San Juan or John, whose name means "God is Gracious" was the son of a fisherman and the brother to Saint James. Traveling everywhere with Christ, Juan became very close to him. Juan became known as the "beloved disciple". He is the only disciple who did not forsake Christ in the hour of his passion. Christ said to him on the cross "Behold your Mother John" referring to Mary. Juan took care of Mary after Jesus' death. Juan was the first to reach the tomb upon hearing of the resurrection and the first to recognize the risen Christ. Juan wrote the fourth Gospel, three epistles, and perhaps the Book of Revelations. He out lived all his fellow disciples.
"St John, writer of the Gospels and Epistles, your love
and closeness to Jesus and gentle care of Mary are profound.
Your writing is inspired and brings great benefit to humanity.
In my humble way I ask that my work may ne of benefit also.
My gratitude is yours."
